声門閉鎖 (Glottal Stop)

fountain (泉) の 発音には二通りあります。[f'auntən] と [f'aunt(ə)n] です。 前者は公式な発音ですが、早口の日常会話では後者が使われます。 後者が声門閉鎖(Glottal Stop)です。 声門閉鎖(Glottal Stop)のやり方は、喉の奥で空気の流れをパッと止めることです。 このとき、舌や唇で息を止めてはいけません。その後、喉を緩めて空気を流します。

- 例1 -

Uh-oh. = 驚いたとき(ええっ)
Uh-uh. = No と同じ(ダメダメ)
Uh, uh, uh! = 警告(コラコラコラ)

- 例2(単語の途中のtで) -

fountain curtain button important

- 例3(終わりのtで) -

I can't. (文の終わりのt)
If you find it, call me. (文節の終わりの一休みの t、 次の単語が子音です)
Let me know. (単語が t(子音) で終わり次の単語が子音で始まる)
(日本語の「ト」は母音「オ」が必ず入りますが、英語の場合は、母音が入りません。)

終わりのtで声門閉鎖 (Glottal Stop)しない話し方をするときは、真の t を使いますが、 ただし、tの息を弱くしてください。
